After many tweaks, additions, a last chapter, and an epilogue, I’m proud to announce my second book, Love, Lies, and Hocus Pocus: Revelations is complete! It still has to go through my editor, of course, but the story is there, and I couldn’t be happier. I finished it last night…weeell actually this morning at 7 am after a 10 hour writing stint, getting the last 8,000 words done in one go. Yes, I then went to bed, but I was back up by 1 pm. No rest for the wicked. Or the self-publisher, for that matter.

For anyone who doesn’t know, Revelations is Book 2 in my Lily Singer Adventure series. It follows wizard and archivist, Lily Singer, as she, her talking cat, and her witch friend Sebastian survive various adventures and she searches for the truth about her family and her past. Book 1, Beginnings, is almost through the editing process, and both Beginnings and Revelations will be released at the end of April 2016. Even more exciting, I finally got back the cover for Book 1 and it is FRIGGEN AMAZING!!! Go subscribe to my newsletter here if you want to get an early peek at the cover, I’ll be sending it out to my newsletter list next week.

Revelations is the second, full novel I’ve completed. Though both Beginnings and Revelations are written in novella format (multiple episodes per book), they both average 60K, the same as a YA novel. What’s interesting is, until my husband pointed out this fact as I triumphantly announced the completion of the epilogue at 7am (he stayed up playing Skyrim), I hadn’t really thought of myself as completing two novels. I’d been releasing them chapter by chapter as an ongoing series on my Patreon site for a year now, so there was never any big milestone that I could celebrate.

Well, here it is now: I’m an author with two books under my belt, a third 3/4 way done, and two more to write by June (to be published in Sept). I will be self publishing all of them. Am I insane? Most definitely. But as any writer would tell you, indie or not, it feels fabulous and we wouldn’t trade it for anything. The best feeling in the world is to have an amazing vision in your head, a story of epic proportions, and to finally get it down on paper so you can share it with the world.

There have been many things in life that I have failed at, have quit, or have simply drifted away from. I double majored in Arabic and Chinese in college, and have never used them. I was in the Marine Corps, but quit before commissioning as an officer (its complicated, but politics had a lot to do with it). I sold Mary Kay cosmetics for a while, imagining I would be a top-tier director and make millions. Nope, not happening. So, three years ago, when I first decided I wanted to try and become an author instead of just dabbling at writing, I wondered: am I going to get tired of this and quit in a few years?

The answer? Nope :). I’ve never felt more alive, fulfilled, or happy. It took a while, but I think I’ve finally found my place in life: nose to paper…well, computer screen technically (how does anyone write a book by hand? *shudders*). I am vastly enjoying by the process of crafting stories, as well as the business of self-publishing. It’s the perfect mix of creativity and entrepreneurship that I most enjoy.

Thank you my family, friends, and fans who have helped and encouraged me along the way. You have been a large part of my success and joy in life, and I praise God every day for putting each one of you in my path. And you know what? You better buckle up, guys, because I’m only just getting started!
