Hello all!  I hope you enjoyed last week’s post.  In light of that advice, I’ve written another chapter in my book.  I still haven’t finalized even a working title, so I won’t say anything more here except that: it will be a trilogy, it’s a modern scifi twist on the old and well-read vampire fiction genre, and it’s told from the perspective of two sisters.  It will probably be a year or two in the making, unless money drops from the sky and I can stop working to just focus on my writing, but it will happen!  I first conceived the idea back in 2008, and I’ve held onto it since, I won’t let it go.

In other news, my first short story “Old Pearls” will be published next Tuesday, April 1st, in the Young Salvationist magazine (check them out here).  It is a free online magazine, so you’ll be able to view the magazine and read my article online once it publishes.  I will post a link!  Thanks so much for everybodys support and help thus far.  I am so excited to become a published author and could not have done it without my family, friends, and fans.

My second short story to be published, “The Last Christmas”, will be published this spring (still no firm date) in the Cherokee Roundtable Christmas Anthology.  Updates will come on that as I find out more.

“Hope” is still in the review process, and “Eye for an Eye” is undergoing professional editing (read the synopsis here).  It was a hard decision, dropping the money to pay for a professional editor. Yet, as all my author friends tell me: high quality is worth it.  If you want to play with the big boys, you have to put your best foot forward.

I have two more short stories in the works, one a humorous, fairytale type story and the second, another dystopian tale (I seem to have a penchant for those).  Please subscribe if you’d like to get updates on their progress and read my weekly blog post.

I want to leave you all with an encouraging note about following your dreams and making a name for yourself.  Though the example I’m giving is in the world of music (a bit more flashy than writing), it’s still a great example of the opportunities out there for anyone with talent, a dream, and a strong drive to achieve.

Pentatonix is a 5 person a capella group.  They have come from obscurity to world-wide fame in the past three years.  They’re INCREDIBLY TALENTED and sing amazing music, not only writing their own, but also doing a capella covers of other famous songs.  Their story is an amazing inspiration, and a picture of what you can do if you reach for your dreams.  I hope it inspires all of you to reach for yours.  Below are some links where you can hear their music, enjoy!
